When Columbia Records first released Illmatic on 19 April 1994(3days BeFore My Birthday) few if any expected that it would have such a profound impact on hip-hop culture. Although Nas impressed the hip-hop world with his verse on Main Source's 1991 posse cut "Live at the Barbeque", ("Verbal assassin, my architect pleases / When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffin' Jesus") and created a buzz with the early release of "Halftime", there was no indication that he was poised to create the most celebrated album in hip-hop history. It is only ten years later, appropriately marked by the release of Illmatic Anniversary Edition, that we can fully appreciate the importance of Nas's seminal project. Jaybsty said: "Finally found it, here's an example of how the review could've been done properly. A review wrote by yours truly a couple of months ago... [CENTER][U]Illmatic Review[/U] Had to jump aboard & 5 star one of my favourite albums of all time. I personally like all of the songs except One Time For Your Mind (It's skippable). Halftime is my favourite (Nas Drops hot lines like 'I used to hustle, now all I do is relax & strive/ when I was young I was fan of the Jackson Five'. I think halftime will always be my fave. However, it is closely followed by One Love. One Love has a nice mellow beat that goes well with Nas' stortelling, 'What up kid/ I know sh** is rough doin' your bid/ when the cops came you shoulda slid to my crib'. I could go into details on other hot lines from the album but I won't. Some people feel that one of Illmatics weaknesses is the length (10 songs). Fans should realise that the short albums are Nas' better albums because he doesn't have a 'filler' every second or third track. The Lost Tapes is a perfect example of this. Why are the lost tapes considered by many his second best album? Because it's short & sweet, no unnecessary filler tracks. I know the level of rhyming is also elevated on Illmatic compared to other albums, I just think the main reason Illmatic is a classic is because it's short & sweet. By the way I gave it 5 stars!!![/CENTER]"

It Ain't Hard to Tell the genesis is, when nas and AZ Callabo Together. tight song i rate it 4/5 N.y State Of Mind. The Lyrics, Are Strong, And Full Of Multies But The Words Are Easy Ryhming 4/5 Lifes A Bitch, The Vocab on this track is excellent, again full of multies, and He callabo's with az again. 4.6/10 The World Is Yours. The Flow On This Track Is Pretty Meticulous, And The Lyrics Are Tight Too! Rating 4.8/10 Halftime. The Song's Lyrics Are Fly, The Beats Make It Look Good Nas, Is A Straight up Narcississt About Him Self, But The Song Is Good Rating - 4.6 Memory Lane, OMG!! Are All The Songs On The Album Better Flowing, Than Water??? Tight Rating - 4.5 One Love, Nice Song Yup It's Good, Nas Is In Love Wit Kelis...lol Rating - 4.5 one For Your Mind, Nice Song...Ish He Always Starts Songs Like This [LP] One time 4 your mind, one time [Nas] Yeah whatever [LP] One time 4 your mind, one time [Nas] Yo whatever [LP] One time 4 your mind, one time Aiyyo Nas (whattup Paul) kick that fuckin rhyme. ^^ I Like It.
