Only Bit 4 Cuban LinxOnly Bit 4 Cuban Linx
free2jumpoff said: "This album changed hip hop direction, kinda like the Cool mo Dee/ bizzyBe battle, if Bizzy Be won that battle can you Imagine how niggas would be Spitin? lol any way back to FREE MONDAY NIGHT CLASSIC ( every monday i will Pick what should be a classic in my opinion)
Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is arguably the best quasi-solo Wu-Tang album (Ghostface Killah literally gets equal billing & props). Most of contemporary hip-hop's Mafioso-inspired themes and MC street aliases are inspired by the "Wu-Gambinos" motif introduced on this 18-cut LP. As the Wu's preeminent storyteller, Raekwon (a.k.a. "The Chef") paints Technicolor Kool G Rap-style pictures of high-stakes drug trafficking on "Criminology," and then mixes his street sensibility with 5% Nation of Islam reasoning on "Knowledge God." This album is loaded with the RZA's finest production moments, as he samples a gang of kung-fu flick sound bites, plays discordant keyboards on "Incarcerated Scarfaces," and utilizes some eerie female vocals on "Rainy Dayz." Only Nas makes the guest on this album, nas was realy tight w/ the Wu niggas, (pick up God son, listen to track 4 "Last real nigga Alive") here are the lyrics if U didn't know http://www.lyricsfind.com/n/nas/god's-son/last-real-nigga-alive.php
The track list
1. Striving for Perfection,..
2. Knuckleheadz.. this joint, Rae, Ghost & U-God fictitiously detailing their murderous exploits. Rae rhymes: “Lay on the crime scene, sippin’ fine wines/ Pullin’ nines on, UFO's, takin’ they fly clothes/ They eyes closed, we getting’ loot/ No doubt, check the word of mouth, unheard about/ Guns go off and now a murder bout/ I'm out/ My raps play the part like a Get Smart secret agent
3. Knowledge God
4. Criminology
5. Incarcerated Scarfaces..A real grimy combo of bassline and keys accompany the solo where Rae really loosens his shackles and delivers a commanding lyrical performance. Even though the two emcee's occasionally switch to their alter-ego's, Lou Diamonds (Rae) and Tony Starks (Ghost), things are handled just as skilfully as if they're rapping normally.
6. Rainy Dayz
7. Guillotine (Swordz)
8. Can It Be All So Simple
9. Shark Niggas (Biters)
10. Ice Water
11. Glaciers of Ice
12. Verbal Intercourse
13. Wisdom Body
14. Spot Rusherz
15. Ice Cream
16. Wu-Gambinos...Method Man, Rza and Masta Killah practice their mafia philosophising alongside Raekwon and Ghost on the unsurprisingly titled. After this joint, thats when All other Mc had Multiple Alias, Wu started this, meth apears as Jonny Blaze, rea as lou Diamonds, Ghost as tony Starks etc. before this Mc's went by one Name
17. Heaven & Hell
18. North Star (Jewels)
OVERAL 9.5/10 even tho its a rea Album tecnecly All WU had somethin to do w/ this classic record. It was back when Meth didn't have to run around w/ Red, RZA didn't have All these Movies asking him for beats. I know Some of y'all is 15 or 17, yo ask any real Hip hop head, this Album should be mentioned w/ the ready to Die, me against the worlds, etc.
Theres A reason why Dr. Dre and Busta rhymes are Co executive Producin ONLY BUILT 4 CUBAN LINX II: productions from Both Dre and Rza Only. Any way we will wait and see, but for Now,..this is the masterpiece.

One thing i disagree on is the different alter egos, I swear Kool kieth aka Dr. Octagon, aka spankmaster aka black elvis did it first. But any way, nice review, and everyone get this CD."
supreme clientele said: "classic album. Only Built 4 Cuban Linx inspired much of the mafioso-style hip hop that was popular back then (check "It Was Written", "Reasonable Doubt", etc.) this albums is a banger."
