Big Josh said: "Clerks is overrated. It was artistic and well made with a low budget but it isnt a "good" movie. I think highly of Kevin Smith but this is hardly his best movie. Dogma is and always will be his best. I am not saying the movie is terrible but I couldnt pay money to own the DVD and I collect DVD's. I like seeing how people started their film careers and I enjoy low budget independent comedies but this one just wasnt working for me. The sequel I have only read about and I havent decided what to think on it yet. Kevin Smith said he was done with the Jay and Silent Bob characters for good after Jay and silent bob strike back but they are supposed to be in this one so we will see how that goes.
And to whoever mentioned Puddle Cruiser, that movie is a good one. It isnt as outrageous as Super troopers and to a lesser extent club dread but it is more of a dry humor type movie that hits on a lot of levels. Overall it is ownable."

A Word Before The Review:
This is personally my favourite movie..ever..yeah..like..its filmed in black and white (sounds odd, but it actually makes it that much better), made in like 1996 or 1995..its ancient..and it has Jay & Silent Bob...so you know it kicks all ass..its an intelligent, funny as hell movie, this is NOT a party movie..you have to pay attention to get all the funniness and whatnot, and have somewhat of a brain..

Dante Hicks (General Store Clerk)
Randall Graves (Movie Store Clerk, who is FUNNY AS HELL, and loves to play mind tricks with his customers)
Jay & Silent Bob (Who peddle dope in front of the store all day)
Annoying-Ass Customers
Plot: (minor spoilers)
Dante wakes up and falls out of the closet on his day off...and gets a call from the other employee, who says Dante should cover till noon..so, Dante goes to work..and later finds he is stuck there until closing..he is more gentle w/ the customers, his philosiphy (They dont bother me, I dont bother them) makes him out to be very sensitive..he buckles under pressure and if it wasnt for his best friend randall, he would fall flat on his ass (metaphorically)..in the course of 1 day, Dante find out his girlfriend has sucked 37 dicks, finds out his EX girl who he has talkin to for the past 2 months is now marrying an asian design major, gets pelted with cigarretes, earns the title "Merchant of death", knocks over a casket, plays hockey on the roof, gets laid out, has an old man DIE in his store..MASTURBATING..has 2 no hold barred fights with randall, gets kicked in the nuts, gets called out-of-shape, threatens dope pushers (Jay And Silent Bob), gets accused of sniffing Shoe Polish to get high, andg ets a $1000 ticket for selling Cigarretes to a 4 year old girl..which Randall actually did...the thing about Clerks is, it takes place in the course of 1 day, is black and white, has 3 different settings, was filmed with a budget of only $5000, and is funny as fuck..
Recommend This Movie?: Yes...you see, I have only spent money on about 5 Movies/CDs/Games in my life..Clerks is one that I couldnt stand NOT to buy, because its just that damned funny..I recommend you rent this, solely because of the fact that its not for EVERYONE..Rent it..soon..or just D/L it..now!..or if you want to trust my word (who wouldnt? :D), buy this sucker..
