And how would rap music with a POSITIVE message for those URBAN kids be a bad thing. As said, rap about your guns, crime, hustlin, but why not make it so theres a POSITIVE message contained within. Trust me, if i wanted to i could spit about all that ish and come across negative, been there, done it, still feeling repurcussions TODAY for my stupidity when i was younger, but why dont i? Nothing to do with being "hood" ..but because theres a biggerworld and a biggerpicture to EVERYTHING in life than w/e shit you have experienced- use that experience, learn from it, move on and forward. To say that all a rapper knows about is guns/hustlin,crime is bollocks mate and an insult to the vast majority of people from poorer neighbourhoods who dont want or live that way, who want their kids to have a better life, but dont have the eductaion or system backing them up to take full advantage of. U tellin me if 50cent rapped about going to college, finishing school, using protection( not guns..lol), then kids wouldnt listen? even a few? of course they would. Why dont these rappers do it? Easy fucking money. We live in a Society that thrives on the darker side of life, the thinking that " oh well that dudes life seems shittier than mine, so fuck it i can drop lower yet, i aint that bad" . I aint talking about rappers making whole albums dedicated to 'concious' rap but the odd song, even as filler on an album would a) take the bad press away from the stereotypical images of rap music and b) maybe inspire some kids to get a education. And dont say poor kids cant afford that shit, half of you on this site CLAIM to be ""hood" yet all have internet.Well guess what the internet is? THE WIDEST BIGGEST SOURCE OF FUCKING KNOWLEDGE IN THE PLANET. Anyway mate, if u jus misread what i wrote, fair play, but if not- u made one dumass statement up there^^. pce"

Ely said: "Sledge Meet The Prophet Behind The Street's Religion 1-How are u doing man? Enjoying the Summer so far? ye, having a few ups n downs at the mo'- on a personal level, but regards to the weather, for once, its actually pretty hot up here in Scotland, a fucking rare thing believe me. Also with the world cup on jus now, good excuse to chill with a beer in the sun watchin the footie. 2) Definition of a a sledge: n. A vehicle mounted on low runners drawn by work animals, such as horses or dogs, and used for transporting loads across ice, snow, and rough ground What about the defintion of Sledge, how do you define yourself? the name "sledge" is my nickname in real life, basically when i was younger i had a rep for pulling any lass availiable(and some not.ha). Due to my lack of standards on this- my mates came up with 'sledge'- 'everytime he goes out he gets pulled by dogs'..cunts, but its stuck for about a decade now. 3) I’ve been noticing your work n you always divide ur pieces equally by forum like u do 3 W.O.M pieces, than 3 audios n than 3 battles. Is that about dominating in each major category? (please take this weight off our chest)? Nah, i dont intend to dominate every category, couldnt care less to be honest, although if i wanted to..ha..j/p...but most of my open mics are written at work when its slow, so they really are basically keys, as for audios- i get in the mood to drop one, get on a roll- then get bored, just the way i am. As for battles- i jus take the piss there now, i think a lot of "vets" on hhw, me included have now reached a level with text battlin where its second nature and therefor no longer a challenge-aint nothing on that level i need to expand or elevate on really. Audios a diff story- still got a lot to learn. 4-I have this song u made called Bitch 2 a very impressive free-style n you also did a song called “Sealed with a kiss” both song are kind of twisted love songs. R u that kind of the type that says i wanna hold u so i can chocke u better or not at all? lol..someone been sending u tracks..lol, ye bitch2 was jus me venting some anger at my girlfriend, better to do it lyrically ya know, turned out quit nice, as for sealed with a kiss- that on the same level but slighlty more introspective, had forgotten bout that track...lol.. (^^Actually i hacked into your computer...Sorry about that) I would say i dont suffer fools gladly, they piss me off, and my g/f sometimes acts like a fuckin idiot, that said i love her, and we have two beautiful kids to take care of, so generally any disagreements we have are set aside, as you have to when u have responsibilties. But ye, at times i could choke her fuckin neck like she was the last chicken on earth and i was starving..lol j/p. 5-U did this one piece in W.O.M called “Equate the World” n one of the things everybody mentioned was ur great vocabulary, well everybody except for Jaybsty (he had to go n ruin everything j/p). Is that one of ur best qualities has an MC? Definately, i read a lot, have a healthy thirst for knowledge and if i dont know something i make a point of finding out about it, personally i think thats one of the main problems with hip hop/society today - people are too closeted in their own bubbles, whoever said ignorance is bliss- probably was right tho'. Is it jus me or do stupid people seem happier..lol. Anyway, i digress, to answer- yes my vocab is def my strong point, also it helps construct a verse, battle. create wordplay w/e- quickly and easily. Risk of sounding cockier than already, lol, nothing i write tends to take more than 30mins. unless its a hook- Damn i hate those fuckers. 6-What type of way do u feel it’s the best to get ur message across a free-style or a written piece? Well for depth and longetivity it has to be a written piece, but for sheer emotion- a freestyle, try spittin a freestyle about w/e troubles u have at a precise moment in time, and although it may not be structurally as on point, the emotion will shine through in a way that a written MAY not. 7-X-Cal still going strong? What’s up with ur crew? Nothing much to be honest, Xcal still here and making noise, but HHW has reached a kind of hiatus where the 3 main crews have been around that long that no REAL beef exists, sometimes its fun to stir it, but until one of these new crews becomes a more prominent force, i cant see there being much collective crew beefs or joints from the main 3. Also a lot of the members of Xcal Ut Ax, have real lives and responsibilties that put a lot of this net ish into perspective for waht it is- a laugh. Sayin that, i did like the look of ATF.. 8-U did this tread sometime ago criticizing rapper’s “duplicity and hypocrisy” (quoting your words). N u pointed Ice Cube as one of those rappers. What do u think is the most shamefull thing about rapper’s double standarts? I think rap music has the abiltity to be so much more influencial than it is- for the GOOD, its the perfect medium to express ANY thought,feeling,emotion- political, social or personal, yet so many emcees tend to write and spit as if they were all churned out the same machine, i think that cows been milked to death. Why rappers choose to talk about guns, crime and money in a NEGATIVE way is beyond me, for all means talk about it- but put a positive spin on it, cause the message that most kids get from hip hop is that there is little light at the end of the tunnel, tell me- how many rappers do you hear making songs dedicated to inspiring poor urban kids to aspire and become educated. Commerically i can think of hardly any. As fo the likes of ice cube, i used to be a big fan of his, his anger seemed genuine, and even though his lyrics were racist at times (cave bitch, horny lil devil) i could respect him coz it seemed real and he talked about issues within society. Then he drops albums like the war and peace cds, makes countless movies working with people whom he decreed to hate and detest only 5 years earlier. Obviously money is a great motivator- but when one of hip hops icons turns 360 then what hope is there for the future of the music? 9- HHW Awards r coming n by everyone that as nominated someone for best mod ur are on the list (seems like ur getting that one), but ur also nominated for other categories. Witch one would u like to win the most? Erm, not audio, i think theres a bunch better than me on there, text battling and open mic that'd be ok- aint many touchin me on those. But best Mod would be enough. 10- Crew vx Crew. We haven’t saw any new battles in a long time but the last one to be made was X-Cal vs Untouchables, two ledgendary crews in here n u dedicated some few lines to ur prolly fave collab artist Jaybsty. Is one of those “what happens in the Pit stays in the Pit” kind of situations? Nah jays a cocksuker, he sprouted from a discarded condom..lol..j/p. Short answer to ya question is - yes. 11-How did u get the idea for that “Street Religion” piece? the fact that society seems to still be geared and judged by PREVIOUS generations standards\morals\beliefs, which are basically useless in respect to todays society, im basically sayin- sooner or later THIS generation and the ones after it will one way or another imprint OUR beliefs and ethics onto the world. 12- R u planning on making a mix-tape CD any time soon? that seems to be the trend, although i need to make more decent songs first, only a few that im happy with conceptually n artiscally. 13- Is there anything u wanna say before we end this interview? Cause if it’s not than it’s just Shout-Out time. Nah, bored y'all enough. So i'll jus give a Shout out to Every1. Except the biters"

Ely said: "yeah thanks for the comments...Tremor how do I programe or pre-pick my questions ? That's seems a lil bit off.... Sledge is one of those cases or you have so much info u don't know what to ask or what do people wanna know, he's the person who took me more time to do the interview just cause u go search on him n as far as the audios, text n battles he as a lot n at the same time I dont wanna go to the treads that had the most replies cause that's not telling something new to some1, maybe the person already got that idea by his pieces...challenging"
