And how would rap music with a POSITIVE message for those URBAN kids be a bad thing. As said, rap about your guns, crime, hustlin, but why not make it so theres a POSITIVE message contained within. Trust me, if i wanted to i could spit about all that ish and come across negative, been there,done it, still feeling repurcussions TODAY for my stupidity when i was younger, but why dont i? Nothing to do with being "hood" ..but because theres a biggerworld and a biggerpicture to EVERYTHING in life than w/e shit you have experienced- use that experience, learn from it, move on and forward. To say that all a rapper knows about is guns/hustlin,crime is bollocks mate and an insult to the vast majority of people from poorer neighbourhoods who dont want or live that way, who want their kids to have a better life, but dont have the eductaion or system backing them up to take full advantage of. U tellin me if 50cent rapped about going to college, finishing school, using protection( not guns..lol), then kids wouldnt listen? even a few? of course they would. Why dont these rappers do it? Easy fucking money. We live in a Society that thrives on the darker side of life, the thinking that " oh well that dudes life seems shittier than mine, so fuck it i can drop lower yet, i aint that bad" . I aint talking about rappers making whole albums dedicated to 'concious' rap but the odd song, even as filler on an album would a) take the bad press away from the stereotypical images of rap music and b) maybe inspire some kids to get a education. [B] 6-What type of way do u feel it’s the best to get ur message across a free-style or a written piece?[/B] Well for depth and longetivity it has to be a written piece, but for sheer emotion- a freestyle, try spittin a freestyle about w/e troubles u have at a precise moment in time, and although it may not be structurally as on point, the emotion will shine through in a way that a written MAY not. [B]7-X-Cal still going strong? What’s up with ur crew?[/B] Nothing much to be honest, Xcal still here and making noise, but HHW has reached a kind of hiatus where the 3 main crews have been around that long that no REAL beef exists, sometimes its fun to stir it, but until one of these new crews becomes a more prominent force, i cant see there being much collective crew beefs or joints from the main 3. Also a lot of the members of Xcal Ut Ax, have real lives and responsibilties that put a lot of this net ish into perspective for waht it is- a laugh. Sayin that, i did like the look of ATF.. N u pointed Ice Cube as one of those rappers.What do u think is the most shamefull thing about rapper’s double standarts? [/B] I think rap music has the abiltity to be so much more influencial than it is- for the GOOD, its the perfect medium to express ANY thought,feeling,emotion- political, social or personal, yet so many emcees tend to write and spit as if they were all churned out the same machine, i think that cows been milked to death. Why rappers choose to talk about guns, crime and money in a NEGATIVE way is beyond me, for all means talk about it- but put a positive spin on it, cause the message that most kids get from hip hop is that there is little light at the end of the tunnel, tell me- how many rappers do you hear making songs dedicated to inspiring poor urban kids to aspire and become educated. Commerically i can think of hardly any. As fo the likes of ice cube, i used to be a big fan of his, his anger seemed genuine, and even though his lyrics were racist at times (cave bitch, horny lil devil) i could respect him coz it seemed real and he talked about issues within society. Then he drops albums like the war and peace cds, makes countless movies working with people whom he decreed to hate and detest only 5 years earlier. Obviously money is a great motivator- but when one of hip hops icons turns 360 then what hope is there for the future of the music? [B]9- HHW Awards r coming n by everyone that as nominated someone for best mod ur are on the list (seems like ur getting that one), but ur also nominated for other categories.
