Reason 1-so that the visiting teams side of the field was at minimum 20 degrees warmer....from the sun shining on them all afternoon.... Reason 2-so that GOD could watch his favourite team play..."

They had powerhouse squads through out those time periods under coach Chuck Noll, up until the early 90s when Bill Cower took over and i believe he has had 12 winning seasons out of 14 or 15 since he has been the coach."
