Illogic said: "^^^word. dont use their pictures, sizes, or wateva. u can try to imitate the first time like when ur testin it out, but after that, u gotta learn to put some personality to it. what is ur tendency to do? brush a lot? blend more? extract more? nice backgrounds? pixel stretch? u gotta figure these things out, then u can truly become wat u want to be gfx-wise. i will post a pixel stretch tut later on."

Illogic said: "Here's my photoshop tut. These are about 7 tutorials combined.Enjoy. Ok. You just got the program from somebody or a cd and you're punked to start making dope sigs. The question is, how? Here's a tutorial for a basic sig for starters and after you read this, you are on your own. How to make a background. First off, you need brushes. These are like files that vary depending on type, size, etc. There is grunge, which is sort of a good evil or dark sig, and there is abstract, which is very nice for artistic sigs. For now, I'm just going to start with a simple abstract background or bg. Step 1. Download the brushes. How? Ok find the brushes either from http://www.deviantart.com which is the #1 source for artisticly great brushes. I'm am going to you "J-A-S-H-I-N's abstract brush pack. To download it, find the brush pack you want. Click on it, then click "Download to Desktop." You will see a window with a picture of a brush on it. Just save it to My Computer>(make a new folder) Photoshop Brushes. Go back to photoshop, At the top right hand corner, It will say brushes. Click on that. There will be an arrow next to it. Click on that, scroll down to "Load Brushes" and find your brush pack wherever you saved it. Easy enough? Good. Step 2. Open a new canvas/document. File>New>Custom>a good size for starters would be 350 px height by 120 pixel width. Put it on RGB Color with a white background and a black foreground(These settings are on default). Click maximize on the document window just so you can see better. Step 3. Brushing Make a new layer(You will see a window that says "Layers". In the bottom right hand corner of the layers window, or layers pallette, There will be something near the trash bin that looks like a piece of paper half folded. Click on that to start a new layer. Go to the top, Filter>Render>Clouds. This is just a basic start off for any sig with brushing. Here's what clouds should look like: Here comes the actual brushing. Make another new layer. Click your brush tool on the right(the brush on the right of the bandage) and begin. You don't actual "brush" on them, you sort of stamp it on and go to another brush. Keep the foreground color black for this layer. When it is partially filled, make a new layer. Choose a new brush(or the same brush if you choose) and this time, make the foreground color white. Just keep repeating these steps until you have found something you like. My product had about 10 layers of just black and white. Here's my final product: Step 3: The render Go onto Google.com or a search engine and search for images of your favorite rapper or maybe a hot girl. I will be using 2pac for my render/image. Go back to photoshop and make a new layer. Copy your picture and paste it into the document. place it where you would want it. If it is too big, go to Edit>Transform>Scale. Scale it down to the size of choice. "

Illogic said: "Step 4: Blending and Extracting. There are two choices. Blend, or Extract. I will go over blending first. Blending: Take out your lasso tool(It looks like a rope next to a dynamite) and set it to about 15-20 pixels at the top. Whichever one you want. Make a rough outline of the render and make sure it is maybe a little off the edge near the places you really want to see such as the head. Then go to the layers window, and click on this grey box with a white circle. It should blend nicely. Heres my blended document: Since some of the black left from the background of the original picture, it adds a little spice to the sig. Yep. You're almost done. Extract: Here was the alternative way that is ideal for using when you are using a pciture background instead of a brushed background. It is called extracting. There are many methods of extracting, but I find this way the easiest. Right Click on your lasso tool and select pologyonal lasso tool. Go the image, zoom it up using the navigator window, by sliding the thing over to the right, and click somewhere on where you want to extract. Outline the whole body(or whatever). This takes patience, but it will pay off in the end. Around curves, souch as fingertips, rounded edges, etc, click on the image more than once. So if you came around to a fingertip, then click on the side, then go up, click to where the lines WON'T CUT OFF, and then keep at that. If you don't understand, IM me and I can explain. Once you have the part you wanted completely lassoed, press CRTL-C to copy. Delete the layer, make a new one, and put it there. Yep, it is now extracted. Step 5: Text Download a font from a font site such as dafont.com or 1001fonts.com Save it to any folder. Extract to wherever, then paste it in Control Panel>Fonts. If you have WinZip, then click on the actual font file, click extract to the desktop, copy the file, and paste in Control Panel>Fonts. Go to photoshop, make a new layer, and press on the "T" on the tools box. Click on the document, and type whatever in whatever font you downloaded whatever size. I'm using Cenobyte, 48 pt. I chose to make the text white for now. Then, on the same layer, go to the layers window and click on something that looks like a cursive "f" with a grey circle. Click on stroke. Apply these settings for now. Stroke Size:1px Position:Outside Blendmode:Normal Opacity: 100% Fill Type: Color Color: Black Bevel and Emboss Style:Inner Bevel Technique:Smooth Depth:120 Direction:Up Size:5 pixels Soften:0 pixels Never mind the rest. Click ok, and see what you got. It's ok, but go to the layers window, where it says normal scroll bar, click on that and choose "Overlay." This will make it overlap the background and make a sort of vibe to the sig. 2 steps left!"

Illogic said: "Step 6: Coloring Go to the layers window and click on something that looks like a circle half white and half black. Choose "Color Balance" Just mess around with the levels until you found something you like. I used: Midtones: +36, -21, -81 Shadows: +17, -19, -75 Highlights: +26, -31, -56 This creates a reddish/yellowish/orangey color. Here you go: FINAL STEP BITCHES: Yep. Make a new layer, and click on the the dotted box at the top (rectangular marquee tool) and Highlight the whole document. Go to Edit>Stroke> and apply these settings for a 1 pixel border. Width: 2 pixel Color:Black Location: Inside Everything else leave it there. Repeat on the same layer, except this time, put 1 pixel width. Before: After: comments and suggestions would be appreciated."

Illogic said: "if u need help, just pm me or get at me on AIm aim-asian emcee i can help Mods, u know u wanna sticky this."

Illogic said: "ur supposed to use the freehand one. just go slowly and U DONT HAVE TO MAKE IT EXACT the tut says to make a ROUGH OUTLINE of the image/render and then press the button to blend. the grey box with a white circle in the layers box.UNLESS u r extracting and u dont want to blend, then yea take NZAs advice and use the polygonal lasso tool or the magnetic this is a good way to blend. or extract"

Illogic said: "just keep at it. just play around with lots of differnet things and then ull will i guarantee, u will get better at it. it took me bout 3 months to get really good, but a few weeks to get decent. its just something that requires patience. no patience=no good sig."
